📌 Speaker: Dr. Josie-Marie Perkuhn, Project Director of the "Taiwan as a Pioneer" program at Trier University, Germany.

📑 Speech outline: Taiwan as a Pioneer (TAP) is a German-based research project that started as a joint project for strengthening interdisciplinary and intercultural research on Taiwan among the China Studies community and beyond. The project started in early 2022 with ambitious goals and addressed topics regarding Taiwan from different academic fields, such as anthology, literature, history and political science. Focusing on how Taiwan developed into a dynamic and plural society that is characterized by a vibrant political and civil-society life that foster a capacity to navigate global challenges. Part of the multi-facetted research project included Taiwan’s energy transition and the challenged energy security concerns. In this lecture, Dr. Josie-Marie Perkuhn presents findings from the field and original data relying on public opinion surveys. Against this backdrop, she will also address how this is a concern for the European and German security policy.
